In partnership with Rockport Exchange and We're All in This Together, Awesome Rockport will work to create a sustainable food collection and distribution system designed to end food insecurity in our community. The project will leverage We're All in This Together's existing collection and distribution of non-perishable foods to families and individuals in need. Further, the project will also create a system, drawing on Rockport Exchange's farmer's market and network, for intercepting surplus fruits and vegetables grown by local farmers and backyard growers, and integrating this produce into We're in This Together's system. And perishable foods unfit for human consumption will be given to owners of food insecure animals in the local area.
