We want to create one, potentially two, pieces of public art to draw in and delight the community.
The Art Bar was established in 2017. Pre-covid, they hosted frequent events open to the public. Post-covid, they switched to private events. Although that has worked fine up until now, we want to start having public events again. Since taking over the space in October, Creative Traveler FM has wanted to highlight this underrated space. I teach painting events where I introduce all ages and abilities to the gift of creating. After graduating from MSUM with a minor in Art Therapy, I have also wanted to add some elements of therapeutic art to what I do in this space. The inside was once covered in a chaotic hodgepodge of handprints. We repainted the inside to reflect a cheerful but calmer environment for creating art. The outside of the building is currently also covered in handprints, but rather than feeling artsy, it feels messy. We have a plan to make the outside an attractive piece of public art, drawing attention to who we are and what we offer the community.
