Common Ground in the Common Place
The Idea
We live in a time when division feels like the default. We scroll past people who think differently, live differently, and see the world differently, and rarely stop to sit across from them.
Common Ground in the Common Place is a simple antidote to that.
With a $1,000 grant, we will fund 20 shared meals or coffees between 40 people who might not otherwise share a table, pairing strangers or acquaintances who differ in age, background, political perspective, lifestyle, or worldview. Young and old. Liberal and conservative. Long-time local and newly arrived. The combinations are as varied as our community itself.
The premise is beautifully uncomplicated: sit down, share a meal, find what you have in common.
Outcomes...
20 gatherings completed within [90-120] days of funding
40 community members who sat across from someone different, and found something they share
20 posts on The Awesome Foundation's Facebook page documenting what was discovered, helping lend visibility to the Awesome Fondation's Initiative.
