The Big Swap & Flow: Keeping I Slay Free for All

At I Slay, we believe every body deserves a seat at the table. We are a 100% volunteer-lead organization in Austin, Texas, founded by two Latina, LGBTQIA+ sisters with the mission to empower plus-size individuals through community, art, and healthcare access. Our project is a monthly heartbeat of radical inclusivity: we host a signature plus-size clothing swap alongside movement classes (like Pilates and dance), art workshops, and social gatherings design specifically for plus-size bodies.

Our impact is tangible. In our first year, we welcomed over 400 participants and donated more than 10,000 items to local nonprofits. Our community feedback shows these events are vital; participants report increased confidence, improved body image, and a deep sense of belonging. For many, we provide the first safe space to try movement classes or find affordable, stylish clothing without judgment.

Currently, our 10-person working board-all plus-size women with lived experience manages everything from logistics to advocacy. However we want to ensure these programs remain 100% free for a community that often faces financial and systemic barriers to wellness.

This grant will cover three full months of core monthly rhythm-3 flagship swaps and 6 “in-between"classes and socials, helping sustain a safe harbor where plus-size bodies are not just accommodated, but celebrated.
