Red Ribbon Week Kick-Off Event

Red Ribbon week is the largest and longest national substance use awareness campaign held for one week in October. It serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities. TEAM Newburgh Community Coalition would like to bring to our city by providing a hands-on interactive experience giving 30 Newburgh students the tools and resources they need to make positive and healthy choices regarding substance use. The event will have various stations that highlight the key protective factors that provide youth with resilience, mental health and well-being and reducing the likelihood for negative outcomes. Some of these stations will include: Drug Trivia, Youth Focus Group, Impairment simulation goggles, nutrition, and a 3D Printer activity. TEAM Newburgh will collaborate with various partners to facilitate the stations and offer guidance and support throughout the day to get our youth excited to bring what they learned back to to their schools. The Newburgh Enlarged City School District will be the county-wide host of the Red Ribbon Week Ceremony in 2026. This event will allow 30 youth the opportunity to mentor and guide their peers from various school districts in Orange County with the knowledge they gain from this event.
