Concerts on Connolly

Concerts on Connolly is a community concert series that takes place in Wadsworth Park in the Weston-Pelham community in Toronto.
Every year since 2020, Concerts on Connolly has hosted between 3–4 free live musical performances in the summer, outdoors at Wadsworth Park. This year, Concerts on Connolly plans to host the first free winter concert as part of the series. The date for the concert is Sunday, January 25, from 5–8PM.
The winter concert will be hosted at a local establishment within the community, transforming an indoor space into a cozy gathering spot for music and connection. We will recreate a version of what we do in the summer into a winter community celebration, with seasonal décor, warm lighting, and an inviting stage. The concert would start with a 1 hour drumming workshop for all ages, followed by two 45-minute sets featuring The Doghouse Orchestra, an eclectic Toronto-based ensemble that blends elements of gospel, jazz, funk, and country. Local vendors will be invited to take part, and activities for children will include face painting and a friendly polar bear mascot.
The Awesome Foundation grant will fund both the drumming workshop and workshop a free hot beverage station, serving hot chocolate, cider, mulled wine, etc.
Concerts on Connolly strives to ensure that everyone has equal access and the opportunity to participate, creating an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and valued. We believe that quality programming and cultural activities should be cost-free for all, which is why we do not charge our audiences for programming. We use a pass-the-hat/PWYC system in addition to guaranteed performance fees, allowing audiences the option to directly support the artists and their work.
This winter event will extend our mission into the colder months, offering neighbours a joyful reason to gather, connect, and celebrate culture together.
