Sea Cirlces
Sea Circles is a summer surf series for self-identified girls. We meet every Tuesday, starting July 1st- August 26th. from 6-8 pm at either Good Harbor Beach or Long Beach.
Sea Circles is much more than a surf lesson. It’s a community-based program that harnesses the transformative power of the ocean to support emotional well-being, self-expression, and leadership in girls. Surfing becomes a vehicle for positive self-development, inviting participants to engage not only with the waves but with themselves and one another. At Sea Circles, we encourage participants to connect with their mind, heart, and body. The ocean brings us into the present moment, a place where we can access peace, perspective, and renewed optimism. As we learn to ride the waves, we also learn to navigate emotions, challenge our limits, and awaken a sense of awe and belonging.
Sea Circles is designed specifically for self-identified girls, recognizing that girls still face gender-based marginalization. By creating intentional, affirming spaces free from social pressure, we invite participants to show up authentically and safely. This emotional safety is essential for confidence, expression, and healing.
Building confidence is a pillar of Sea Circles. Surfing is hard, and learning something difficult in a group setting reminds us that we are not alone. We all experience fear, frustration, and joy. We help participants recognize and reframe negative self-talk, celebrate progress, and build each other up. At each session, participants are invited to share something they’re proud of and offer a compliment to someone else, reinforcing personal growth and community care.
Our staff and volunteers are dedicated, supportive water women who act as mentors and role models. They create meaningful relationships, sharing knowledge, encouragement, and a deep respect for the sea. These relationships are foundational to the Sea Circles experience.
