Room Party

We are the four co-curators of Room Party, the first-ever large-scale group exhibition of contemporary art by furry artists. Room Party will include work from over fifty artists and a full schedule of free-to-attend public arts programming. The show will open on June 6th, 2025 at Bunker Projects, a non-profit arts organization in Pittsburgh, and will run through mid-July.

The name of the exhibition is a nod to the underground DIY subculture of guerrilla parties held in hotel rooms during furry conventions. Through personal experiences attending and hosting these “room parties,” we have seen firsthand how a community of weirdos who like to dress up as funny cartoon animals flip their hotel rooms into bustling coffee shops, arthouse movie theaters, all-night neon raves, or whatever else captures the imagination. With this, these hotel rooms transform from dry corporate private spaces into essential community-run gathering spaces for individuals to come together for the sake of art and each other, free of inhibitions or judgment—even if only for the convention weekend. Our hope is to bring the love we feel in these spaces beyond the convention, as we invite the greater Pittsburgh community to join our room party experience.

With our focus on public programming, we want our exhibition to serve as a true community space where Pittsburghers from all circles of life can connect through art, and the strange furry world that this art comes from.
