Ipswich Snow Angels

The Snow Angels program is designed and operated in partnership with the Ipswich Council on Aging. The program to help older adults in our community safely manage the winter season by providing free snow removal services for those residents most in need.

As snow and ice accumulate, it can become increasingly difficult and dangerous for seniors to clear their driveways, walkways, and sidewalks, leading to potential slips, falls, or other injuries. This program connects volunteers with older adults who need assistance in maintaining a clear path during winter storms.

The program ensures that seniors’ homes remain accessible to programs such as meals on wheels, home care staff, and the ability for them to attend any medical appointments or caregiver/loved one’s visits.

By reducing the physical strain of snow removal, we aim to improve the overall well-being of older adults, allowing them to maintain their independence and stay active during the winter months.

To participate, older adults can simply sign up for the program, and our team will match them with a volunteer who is available to assist.

Volunteers clear snow from and apply salt to driveways, walkways, and stairs, ensuring seniors can safely leave their homes and move about their property. The program runs throughout the winter months, and all services are provided at no cost to the participants.

There has been a significant increase in the number of residents who need the Snow Angel support. In fact, we do not have enough volunteers to support the need, resulting in many seniors submitting their names to our wait list.
