BIPOC Book Fair

The BIPOC Book Fair is an event similar to the Scholastic Book Fair: kids can explore a room full of books and buy the ones that most interest them. This fair will only include books written by BIPOC authors with BIPOC characters. It will include books from all genres of fiction and non-fiction for kids ages 2 – 17. It will have around 50 titles curated by librarians from the Multnomah County Library system, event advisor K. Tempest Bradford, and input from the community.

Every child under 18 who attends will get a free book of their choosing.

The BBF will take place in Portland, OR at a venue to be determined. The aim is to be able to put on the event in March, May, or June of 2023.

The BBF is a program of the Carl Brandon Society, an organization dedicated to increasing racial and ethnic diversity in the production of and audience for speculative fiction. carlbrandon.org
