BOSOMii

Sheila Mastrony and Sara Minck worked together as breast imaging technologists. They wanted to do more for patients, so they became board certified breast navigators as well. “Patient navigators eliminate barriers to care. Education is extraordinarily important so people can make informed choices about their unique healing journey,” says Sara. She and Sheila recently co-founded #LightTheValleyCT and BOSOMii as part of their mission to promote holistic breast health education, wellness, and prevention.

Last September, they launched a social media (COVID-safe) fundraising movement to spread awareness about breast cancer and to honor survivors. Check out their hashtag #LightTheValleyCT on all the socials to see how successful they’ve been!

BOSOMii became the logical outgrowth of that first initiative and is on its way to becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Launched just a few months ago with the help of their third director Melisa Santos, BOSOMii is designed to expand awareness about holistic breast health, body positivity, prevention of breast disease through early detection, and increasing survivorship. Don’t worry if you’re curious about health perspectives or healing paradigms that are not completely in line with what you might hear from your Very Conventional Doctor. Curiosity and creativity are welcome.

“If you have breasts, you’re invited to check us out,” says Sara. Their website (http://www.bosomii.com/) is filled with informative explanations about all things breast-related, elements are still being built so check back frequently for more information. You’ll also find interesting tidbits, including details of the second #LightTheValleyCT event coming up on September 25. Find out more at https://www.bosomii.com/upcoming-events

Our Awesome Without Borders grant will help underwrite some of the Wellness and Survivorship events.

Sheila and Sara are genuinely excited to help people take good care of their breasts! Pros like them resemble the perfect fitting bra: hard to find, supportive, comfortable, uplifting, and always so close to the heart of the person.
