Mannequin to Train Rural Ugandan Nurses

The average young person in Rural Uganda will not study beyond secondary level education and will earn less than $500 per year. Additionally, Uganda only has 1 trained nurse per 1,000 people in the country. Rural Ugandans lack access to healthcare and education due to a lack of trained healthcare workers.

In order to address these problems, ACCESS (African Community Center for Social Sustainability) is in the midst of building a comprehensive nursing school to train young people as skilled health workers. Once the school is up and running, our students, graduates and staff will provide access to care for approximately 12,000 patients and community members per year through clinical services and public health programs. These young people will also be able to work in a respected healthcare profession, increase their annual income, and provide for their families.
