Cambrian Symphony’s June 2017 Concert

Cambrian Symphony is dedicated to enriching the arts in San Jose while working with our community to support the next generation of classical musicians. We are the only symphony in the Bay Area that actively mentors young musicians by engaging students in performance side by side with volunteering professionals, providing students countless opportunities not available via school or traditional student ensembles. This season we are proud to include 20-25 local middle and high school students among our 60-75 total musicians. Our unique combination of professionals and students brings added vitality to our performances and we have earned rave reviews from San Jose audiences.

Classical music can be expensive to learn and to enjoy, but Cambrian Symphony is committed to making great music accessible to everyone. We offer our concerts free of admission and charge no tuition to our students, eliminating financial barriers that take classical music out of reach for many. With your support, we can bring more of our awesome music, education, and vision to San Jose!

Cambrian Symphony’s June 2017 Concert will showcase a brand new piece written specifically for us by award-winning composer Luis Andrei Cobo. We will perform the world premiere of his Piano Concerto, joined by internationally acclaimed local pianist Tamami Honma. We will also perform two exciting classic works, Gershwin’s An American in Paris and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7. We are delighted to partner with San Jose State University’s Beethoven Center, who will deliver a pre-concert lecture discussing Beethoven’s masterpiece. Our students will not only receive a great lesson on one of the greatest composers ever, but will gain the incredible experience of working directly with a living composer, in addition to the exceptional musical training they always receive. We are thrilled to bring this amazing music to San Jose and will present this program free to the public at SJSU on June 16, 2017, at 7:30pm.
