SisterFriend

SisterFriend is an organization by women for women dedicated to sustaining feminine health by providing homeless and underprivileged women and girls with feminine care products.

Women living in poverty typically know where to find a safe place to sleep or a hot meal to eat. But when it comes to taking care of their feminine hygiene needs, they often have nowhere to turn.

Tampons and sanitary pads usually top the list of needs at shelters, since they’re pricey and supporters don’t often donate them. That is where SisterFriend comes in. We provide our shelter and after-school program partners with the feminine care products they desperately need.

Every woman deserves personal dignity regardless of their social economic status. What if not having sanitary supplies meant DAYS without school, DAYS without income, DAYS without leaving the house, DAYS without being clean and risking infection? Women and girls use toilet paper, washcloths, and clothing, anything they can find. It’s a desperate situation that many women living in poverty feel resigned to accept.

SisterFriend aims to provide access to quality feminine hygiene products to women who are living in poverty. We administer our program by; • direct distribution of feminine hygiene kits • partnering with nonprofits, groups and organizations • raising awareness • and providing volunteer opportunities to young women in our community
