NEWT Miami: Experiments in Light, Color & Sound

We present to you NEWT Miami: a fully immersive, sensorial installation inspired by Isaac Newton's theory of color and music. The vision: the 19-story digital wall of the InterContinental Miami diagrammatically-lit in synchronicity with contemporary instrumental music. The aspiration: transform the downtown Miami skyline into a 21st century canvas for visual art and performative architecture, and captivate and carry audiences through a powerful emotional journey.

NEWT Miami is slated to launch in Fall 2015. Every night for 5 days, audiences will be invited to look toward the InterContinental for a dramatic digital installation in symphony with color and movement. Simultaneously, audiences plug-in to NEWT's unique soundtrack on live web stream. For 7-9 minutes, every note of this installations' original arrangement will come alive across the downtown Miami skyline.

Pass: Miami

With views of the InterContinental's northwest and northeast facades, optimal viewing points for NEWT are located in the neighboring Bayfront Park and also scattered throughout Downtown Miami and the Beaches. Audiences are empowered to partake collectively, streaming the sound from their smart phones and looking towards InterContinental; or privately, streaming the projection sequence and music at home on their computers.

NEWT Miami is about creating community. A key aspect of the project is working with arts and social collectives throughout Miami to develop pop-up events, artist talks and like-minded exhibitions.

NEWT Miami is about accessibility to a worldwide community. Based in the heart of the city, NEWT is uniquely accessible to locals and visitors. As a sensorial experience, it crosses boundaries of age, gender, language and nationality.
