The idea for this project came from my desire to help people on a more personal level. It often seems that we forget how small gestures can have a great impact on a person's life. You never know when the person standing in front of you in line may be feeling helpless and lost. We've all had moments where we just wish someone would understand and sympathize with our troubles. This applies to all the people we meet, and to those we may never encounter. The goal of Connective Quotes is to lift our spirits. It involves creating a minimum of 2,000-3,000 handmade cards (or more, if we are able--we will be using a die-cut machine) made using ONLY eco-friendly papers and inks. Each card will contain an inspirational message on one side, and a succinct mission statement on the other. The cards will be left in various locations around the city (e.g. coffee shops, supermarket, bookstores, car windows, etc.) for people to find, read, and pass on to others. The second part of our goal is to create a website where people can track the movement of an individual card. Each card will have a number stamp for this purpose. This information will help us determine if, and where, our cards are successfully traveling. We will also encourage people, who log onto our site, to submit their own messages for future card productions. Card/website design, production, and distribution will be done by me and my friend Meghan Hartman. Anyone interested is free to help. There really isn't much more to it. Connective Quotes is just a simple way to give and receive happiness.
