Great Mo-Ments in Bytown

The first of June's two Awesome Ottawa awards goes to Grant Vogl, to support a Movember exhibit at the Bytown Museum celebrating amazing "Mo's" from throughout Ottawa's history.

"From mayors and aldermen to merchants and curling clubs, Bytown has played host to some fantastic facial hair," says Grant, who illustrated this point with slides displayed as he pitched the idea at Awesome Ottawa's 3rd birthday party. The exhibit will feature large-format photographs, sign vinyl graphics, social media links and contests, children’s activities, and an interactive "self-portrait" display where visitors can give themselves a "Mo makeover."

"This project is a personal one for me," says Grant, "my father having beaten prostate cancer. However, it is also an opportunity for the Museum to engage new visitors, raise awareness, raise money for a good cause, and show off some of our very eccentric artefact and photographic collection."

Grant is Collections and Exhibitions Manager at the Bytown Museum.
