Wellspring Closet

In addition to homelessness prevention, Wellspring House, Gloucester, provides career and educational planning, adult education and job training, and also English for newly arriving Americans at the Sawyer Free Library. These programs all support families on the road to finding living wage jobs. All program participants are given the opportunity to receive free business attire from Wellspring but, in my opinion, the current system lacks dignity. There are gently used clothes in bins, organized by size and participants may dig through them and take what they need. My project is to claim an underutilized awkward space at Wellspring and create a "shoppe" that provides a respectful shopping experience. This space would be fitted with racks organized by size. Program participants would make an appointment and shop for free. Volunteers may help them choose outfits.
